IQA 2018
My Rosa Parks quilt, "Quiet Storm" was on display at the International Quilt Festival in the "Ourstory" exhibit. It is also included in the book as well. This book is definitely a must have for art quilting enthusiasts as well as those who want to lean more about some remarkable people. I am especially proud of this one--not just because of the subject, but I really love the quilting I did on the face. This is my best face quilting yet! I used a few different techniques on this art quilt. I drew the main image from the famous photo from Rosa Parks' arrest, and I changed the sign from the number to the word "equal". I then transferred the image to fabric and painted it. For the background, I actually printed it using a thermofax screen that I had made which has words, dates and numbers which were significant to that event and period in time.
